Thrift is in the eye of the beholder
Pricing, Prestige and Perception shapes our purchasing behaviours
On our travels, one of the themes that’s emerging from numerous respondents is the emergence of thriftiness as a part of daily life.
Platforms such as Vinted and Depop are getting mentioned more and more as people are re-assessing their purchasing behaviours. The platforms are giving them an opportunity to not only save some money, but also be a little more ethical in their purchasing too.

This sense of buying ‘better’ and not relying on fast fashion is a growing theme amongst the younger people we’ve been chatting to - Adam from Glasgow also mentioning it when we visited him last year.
But we still carry a sense of some items being worth paying more for. Either from a quality perspective, or from a prestige or perception point of view too.
